She holds a degree in Agronomy, awarded by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA)/ Technical University of Lisbon, a Master degree in Agricultural and Rural Development, awarded by the Institute of Social Studies, (Den Haag, Holland) and a PhD in Agronomical Sciences, awarded by the Technical University of Lisbon. She holds the Habilitation in Agrarian Economy and Rural Sociology, awarded by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA – UTL).

She is an Associate Professor at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia/Technical University of Lisbon and full researcher at the Center for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (CETRAD), University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.

Rita Azevedo

She was born in Lisbon and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She’s currently working as a Research Assistant in the School of Agronomy (ISA/ UTL) under Professor Isabel Rodrigo’s supervision. With a bilingual education and multidisciplinary training, she was involved in different projects related to environmental education and animation, environmental volunteering, commerce of organic, local and regional products in Portugal and Ireland.

Rita returns to Portugal after 5 years of living abroad, which included a backpacking trip to South America, to study Environmental Engineering in ISA at a Masters level. In the project Rural Matters, she’ll be working in Task 3, i.e. Content Analysis of Documents regarding Rural Development Policies and Strategies and Key-actors Interviewing to Assess Representations of the Rural.
