Elisabete Figueiredo [Coordinator]

Sociologist (ISCTE – IUL, 1989), PhD on Environmental Sciences (University of Aveiro (UAVR), 2003) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences (UAVR). She is full researcher at GOVCOPP– Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (UAVR) and associated researcher at CETRAD – Centre of Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Portugal), and at IBIMET – National Research Council, Italy, within the group on Rural Development and Cultural identity (from January 2010 – July 2011).

Since 2010, she is member of the Group of Experts of Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Planning, for the debate on the CAP beyond 2013. She is Coordinator of the Environment and Society group of the Portuguese Association of Sociology. She is member of the Director’s Board of SPER – Portuguese Society for Rural Studies.

Besides her work, she likes jazz, cinema, literature, poetry and travel.

Celeste Eusébio

Assistant Professor of Tourism  at the Department of Economics, Management and Industrial Engineering (UAVR) and researcher at the GOVCOPP – Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (UAVR). She holds a Degree in Tourism Management and Planning from the University of Aveiro (1995), a Master in Economics from the University of Coimbra (1998) and a PhD in Tourism, also from the University of Aveiro (2006).

Her research interests include tourism economics, tourism impacts, tourism forecasts and consumer behavior in tourism.

Elisabeth Kastenholz

Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Management and Industrial Engineering (UAVR) and a researcher at GOVCOPP – Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies. She holds a degree in Public Administration/Foreign Affairs (German Institute of Public Administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). She holds a Masters degree on Management (Management School of Oporto) and a PhD in Tourism (2002, UAVR). Currently she is the coordinator of the Masters degree in Management and Planning in Tourism.

She has been involved in several research projects and has been published in book chapters and journals, both at international and national levels.

She currently coordinates the project “The overall rural tourism experience and sustainable local community development”, financed by FCT.

Mª João Carneiro

Assistant Professor of Tourism at the University of Aveiro and researcher at the GOVCOPP Research Unit (UAVR). She holds a Degree in Tourism Management and Planning from the University of Aveiro (1993), an MBA from the New University of Lisbon (1998) and a PhD in Tourism, also from the University of Aveiro (2007).

At present she is, at the University of Aveiro, coordinator of the Degree programme in Tourism and member of the Executive Committee of the Department of Economics, Management and Industrial Engineering.

Her research interests include consumer behaviour in tourism, tourism destination marketing, image and positioning of tourism destinations, competitiveness of tourism destinations and tourism attractions, tourism impacts and visitor management.

Diogo Soares Silva

diogo.silva@ua.pt

He is the University of Aveiro’s research assistant for the Rural Matters project. He holds a degree in Public Administration (minor in Urbanism and Territorial Planning) from the University of Aveiro (2010) and is currently finishing his masters in Urban and Regional Planning in said university.

The multidisciplinary essence of his educational background led him to perform R&D tasks in areas such as urban planning and higher education studies before joining the Rural Matters team. Research interests also include spatial analysis, public transport policies, demography and migration issues.

Broader interests include traveling, writing, music, writing about music, politics and historical/human geography.
