The International Rural Sociology Association is organizing the XIV World Congress on Rural Sociology, to be held at the Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, between 10 and 14 August 2016, under the general theme ‘Sustainable and Just Rural Transitions: Complexities and Connections’.

The call for paper proposals is now open (until November, 1, 2015) to one of the 70 sessions presented to the Congress.

We particularly call your attention to the Session 28 – ‘Rurality in the eye of the (urban) beholder? (Re)constructing rurality through urban imaginaries’ – and Session 29 – ‘Beyond the gaze of the tourist- what does rural tourism leave for local communities?’ – co-organized by Elisabete Figueiredo (University of Aveiro, Portugal) and Pavel Pospech (Masaryk University, Czech Republic).
